Welcome, I’m Katie (she/her) and I’m so glad you’re here.

My Practice…

I’m a space holder and advocate for joy, dignity, safety and belonging for all, and collaborate with folks who have had to collapse and hide their full selves in response to violence and harm.

I partner with trauma survivors, organizers, social workers, healers, first responders, and advocates.

The body is a pathway toward liberation, and a world in which we individually and collectively can (re)build connection; to heal ourselves, our communities, and the land that makes all life possible.

My Process…

Through partnership, curiosity and collaboration, my approach to somatic coaching disrupts internalized, interpersonal, and systemic violence; this includes the way we respond when we encounter, engage in, and respond to oppression and pressure.

I collaborate with folks to discover deeper access to themselves, connection with those they love, and the land we live on through building awareness of lack of sensation, deepening relationship to their body, and identifying practices supportive to their desired embodiment. When we’re able to approach our own and collective bodies with love, choice, and reciprocity, systemic change and transformation are within reach.

In the context of racialized capitalism, settler colonialism, white supremacy, and cisheteronormative patriarchy, somatics opens expansive possibilities. Through increasing our ability to be present, engage in somatic practices, and ongoing commitment to ourselves, each other, and the earth, we can co-create and build capacity for a world rooted in agency, love, and aliveness. Through embodiment and practice, we can co-create a world that dignifies and values all living beings and the land that supports us.

My History…

I weave my  knowledge of gender based violence, anti-oppression, and trauma-centered practice into virtual 1:1 coaching and workshop facilitation. I hold a Master of Social Science focused on Indigenous Rights and Policy and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Gender Based Violence. I am a certified somatic coach through Strozzi Institute, as well an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach.

My lineages are Irish, Welsh, and German. My lived experiences as a gender based violence survivor has led me to roles in community organizing, advocacy, and work oriented toward healing lived and intergenerational experiences of trauma.

Testimonials

“After years of traditional talk therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, I was still dealing with debilitating symptoms of depression and anxiety, fatigue, headaches, and difficulty handling big life transitions. Katie coached me with unending patience and compassion to tune in to recognize the ways emotions, beliefs and history had manifested themselves in my body. Thanks to my somatic coaching sessions with Katie, I feel more resilient, introspective, peaceful, and body aware. She has such a warm and calming demeanor that always made me feel safe during sessions and supported in between our meetings. She’s extremely knowledgeable and I highly recommend her practice. “

“My somatic coaching experience with Katie helped me learn how to tune into my body, which it turns out is harder than it sounds. Coming to this work with a history of trauma, I was very disconnected from my physical body and struggled to be present and notice the sensations I was experiencing. Katie helped me access what I was feeling throughout my body in a safe and gentle way and helped me learn how to put words to these feelings and allow myself to simply experience what was coming up. She offered simple strategies to be more present in my body and shift stuck energy. I was able to take the techniques that resonated and integrate them into existing practices, like yoga and meditation. My embodiment journey is still a work in progress, but Katie's support helped me take the first steps.”

“In a culture that seems so eager to reason away all our feelings, Katie has helped me reconnect with the aspects of my experience that live outside my rationalizing brain and express themselves in my body. Working with her has helped me learn to lean into these experiences as sources of immediate and invaluable information, realizing that the answers I’m looking for are often best found by getting out of my head and listening to my body. Through this work, I’ve been surprised over and over by the intimate relationship of the physical and the emotional. Katie has taught me not only to access the exclusive wisdom of my body, but also to accept it, letting it guide the decisions I make, the boundaries I set, and the thoughts I hold onto or let go. Thanks to her, I feel like I know myself better.”
